Mother/Daughter Remix: Maxi Skirts

Today's remix is the maxi skirt.  We both love the maxi skirt, but have found it difficult to style for some reason, so we thought it would be worth giving this remix a try.  Kayla's skirt is Apt. 9 brand from Kohl's and Heather's skirt is from New York & Company.  We tried to style our maxis for work and casual as well as for a more "adult" look and a "youthful" look. Hopefully you will find some inspiration!

On Heather: Top (Elle, Kohl's), Belt (Express, thrifted), Shoes (Goodwill, Target new stock), Long Necklace (Premiere Designs Jewelry), Owl Necklace (Forever 21), Bracelets (??)

On Kayla: Top (Macy's), Necklace (Thrifted), Shoes (Kohl's)

On Heather: Top & Necklace (New York & Co), Shoes (Kohl's)

On Kayla (Top, Walmart)

On Heather (Tank, Kohl's), Vest (New York & Co), Shoes (Target), Necklace (??)

On Kayla: Blazer (LOFT, thrifted), Tank & Necklace (Kohl's)
So how do you like to style your maxi skirts?  We hope you all have a great weekend.

  3. The maxi skirt/dress has been my favorite thing this summer. I really like the patterned one you guys have, especially with the chambray shirt on Kayla. Very nice!

  4. Both skirts are awesome. I love the mother/daughter remix concept.

I especially like the first remix picture of the black skirt and the first on of the blue skirt...although all of them are cute.

  6. Well done! My maxi skirts haven't gotten as much use as I thought they would- maybe that'll change in the fall. Thanks for the great ideas! I'll file them away!

  10. I love the pattern to Kayla's skirt! I just recently purchased my first maxi skirt, mostly because I'm getting to the BIG stage of pregnancy, and comfort wins out over all else, and this skirt is maybe one of the most comfortable things I've ever worn :)

  11. So jealous! Earlier this summer I went to Kohl's and wanted to get the skirt Kayla is wearing so much but they only had one large (way too big for me). I generally pair maxi skirts with fitted tees and/or a tank. For added interest, I'll throw on a statement necklace.

  13. Nice post -- you go in different directions and both reach your goal. You look very elegant in the dark color. Kayla looks vibrant with her bright colors. I wouldn't have thought a single item could create such diverse impressions.

  14. you both did a great job with the styling, but i am going to have to say the bold color/print is my fav just because i am a color girl!

  19. I love maxi skirts! They really are so versatile! I love the look with the military vest! I usually just wear mine with a tucked in tee - easy but also put together!

  21. Wow, these are some great looks! This trend honestly still scares me. I always thought you had to be like 5'10" to pull it off but you proved to me that is not the case. Next time I go shopping, I am trying one on! My favourites are the first 2 looks. I like how Kayla balanced the little bit of torso showing with the longer skirt.

  25. I own a couple of maxi skirts (both purchased a long while ago) and I haven't worn them at all this summer, neither have I worn Maxi Dresses. I love them both just that it has been too hot for them, at least for me, being pregnant and all. But at the same time this style is so comfy and flattering for pregnant women.

Love this remix. The first look of each of you is my fave. =)
