The Start of My Senior Year

Yesterday was the start of my final year in high school.  I didn't actually start school, but I did my senior pictures!  It was a super fun day getting my make up done, playing dress up, and hanging out with my mom.  I was exhausted after all that clothes changing and smiling though.  We were there for a four hour session and it took an  hour to get my make up done, but it didn't matter.  Here are few pictures from my day I wanted to share:

I got my make up done at Merle Norman.  They do a make up consultation about application techniques and my face looked flawless when it was finished.  My make up held for the full four hours of sitting under hot lights and being outside in the heat, laying around on hay bales, and all kinds of posing!  The make up application was a free service, but I purchased (well my mom did), the lipgloss and lip pencil to re-apply throughout the day.  Check out the manequinn head in the background. She's kind of creepy!

This was one of my outfits.  I chose a more casual look because that's more "me"  I liked the bright colors and floral in this top paired with my ripped crops and orange sandals.

This was one of my mom's outfits she picked for me.  She wanted a more classic and mature look for at least one set of photos.  I really ended up liking the look of the dress paired with the leopard heels.  The photographer did a couple of shots with leopard in the background.  I love leopard print, so I can't wait to see the final pictures in this outfit.

They ended up getting about fifty to sixty photos in all. I definitely had lots of practice doing outfit changes and posing doing this blog for the last year!

Do you remember doing your senior pictures?  Did you have a good or bad experience?  Do you have any outfit regrets?

  2. What a fun experience. I'm glad you enjoyed it. You look terrific.

We didn't have this event back when I was in school. Then again, I'm not sure we had cameras back then, either. :)

  3. Oh yes! Senior pictures are one of the fun parts of your senior year! I remember doing mine, the photographer was so wonderful and made me feel super comfortable, she had this neat old trunk and we used it in a bunch of them.

You look really beautiful! I bet you can't wait to get the results!

  7. You look so pretty Kayla! I love both the outfits you picked and the dress your mom picked. I know your Senior photos are gorgeous! I love that they're doing scenes now. For my senior pics (90's), I had about 3 outfit changes, different backgrounds and poses. It was fun. Merle Norman was an excellent choice! They always bring out your natural beauty. Glad you enjoyed your photo shoot. May you and your mom have a great weekend.

  12. Your make-up looks absolutely fabulous and I just love the floral casual top you picked out, as well as your mom's dress. Please share a picture or two with us! Our senior pictures were not a big deal at all, they were just school day shots.

  16. Senior year--that's so exciting! You look beautiful for your pictures. I recently posted my senior picture in one of my blog posts. It was from 1998 and I was wearing high-waisted tapered mom jeans! Too funny. :) You look much more stylish than I did at your age.

    Enjoy your senior year!

  17. Wow, how exciting! They did a beautiful job with your makeup. You still look like yourself, they've just enhanced your already considerable natural beauty. The professional photos in your sheath dress may come in handy sometime for something like a LinkedIn profile; I think that was a smart idea!

  18. Both outfits shown here are so nice and so different too. Love the sheath dress, your mom is right. Show us some of your best Senior Picture shots when you get them, at least one with each outfit. ;-)
